The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India gained four spots to be now 158th amongst the 208 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India moved to joint 28th amongst 46 nations in the rankings.
India is joint 158th along with neighbours Bangladesh behind the Philippines and ahead of Madagascar with 138 points, seven more then last month. The points came through the change of points on the year to year calculations.
India's next assignment will be the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal from March 8 to 19, 2012. There India could get some useful points to move-up the FIFA World Rankings.
Meanwhile there has been no change amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Spain (1,564 points) stay at the top with the Netherlands (1,365), Germany (1,345), Uruguay (1,308) and England (1,173) behind them.
