Borussia Dortmund and German international Marco Reus have both confirmed that the 22 year old will be joining last seasons Bundesliga champions in the summer of 2012 from rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach. The transfer fee will be 17,1 Million Euros.
The transfer was only possible due to Reus having a release clause in his contract which was to run until 2015. Not only Dortmund, but also FC Bayern Munich and some foreign clubs had shown interest in signing Reus, who is one of Germany's brightest talents.
For Dortmund Reus is the first big transfer in years and with the money from the UEFA Champions League coming in they can afford the attacking midfielder, who has signed a five year contract. Reus meanwhile returns home, then he was born in Dortmund having played in the youth teams of Borussia Dortmund before leaving for RW Ahlen and then Gladbach.
Though Reus also said that his parents and girlfriend living in Dortmund wasn't a factor in his decision, he knows the club very well and wanted to join an ambitious club which Dortmund is according to him.
For Mönchengladbach it was a big shock then they are currently playing their best season in years with Reus the standout player in the team. Gladbach had signed then teenager Marco Reus for only a million Euros from then 2.Bundesliga side RW Ahlen and since then he has scored 28 goals in 80 Bundesliga matches with manymore assists.
