It looks like former Liverpool FC striker Robbie Fowler will not be joining the upcoming Premier League Soccer in West Bengal. Fowler had tweeted only last week that he would not be joining the PLS, but then retracted his statement on the social media platform after getting further infos from the organisers through his agent.
It seems the delay and uncertainly regarding the start and final dates of the PLS has now led to Fowler deciding aginst participating in the IPL-style football league, which will certainly not be to the liking of the organising IFA (West Bengal) and CMG.
The 35 year old Fowler meanwhile is set for a return to England, where he has been training with Championship side FC Blackpool. Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has spoken highly about Fowler, so a return looks on the cards for the striker who in recent years has played in Australia and Thailand.
Fowler, who has played 26 times for England, had been signed by Kolkata Camelians in the auction for USD 530,000; now the franchise will have to look for an alternative icon player.
