USFC unhappy about Baichung incidence reporting

On the field the results have been mostly going as per plan for United Sikkim FC in the I-League Division 2 in Silchar, Assam. Three wins and a draw after four matches mean USFC are top of Group A with the club set to qualify for the final round.

But in their third preliminary league match on February 8 against Guwahati's Green Valley SC there was some unwanted trouble. USFC co-owner and former India captain Baichung Bhutia came on as a second half substitute for his side and he was given a tough time by Green Valley defender Amal Ghosh. This resulted in an agitated Baichung having a go at Amal Ghosh, which resulted in the referee handing both players a yellow card.

Post match Baichung was accused by match commissioner Inayatullah Khan to have brought the game into disrepute. Baichung was called-up by the disciplinary committee, which is made up of local football officials, but he did not turn up due to another commitment in Siliguri, West Bengal to accept a state award.

Baichung will appear infront of the disciplinary committee on February 16 once he returns to Silchar and unlike reports in the media Baichung has not been temporarily suspended by the disciplinary committee. This reporting has also not gone down well with the USFC team management.
