The UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy lands in India

Danish brewery Carlsberg, who are one of the tournament sponsors, has brought the UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy on a three city tour to India. The trophy was unveiled at the residence of Ambassador of Denmark to India, Freddy Svane; and then taken to the Select City Walk Mall at Saket, New Delhi for a public dislay and chance for fans to click a photo with the trophy.

The UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy was unveiled in a grand way by Carlsberg in the presence of former Indian football captain Baichung Bhutia, who himself a big fan of European football, got a first-hand chance to view the trophy from close range.

The Carlsberg India's Marketing Director Subodh Marwah speaking on the occasion said, "It is a proud moment for Carlsberg India to bring the official UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy and offer an exceptional experience to football enthusiasts across the nation."

"We are extremely pleased and encouraged by the positive response received from the football fans. We are keen to engage with them more through exciting activities planned for the coming months. Through these stimulating initiatives, we will grow the enthusiasm around football and EURO 2012 in India," Subodh Marwah added.

In an interesting way of deciding where to display the trophy Carlsberg India carried out an online poll amongst the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi and Pune with the three cities with the maximum number of votes getting the chance to host the Trophy. In the end the three cities of Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai topped the poll, though the order is unknown.

Carlsberg India announced another exciting contest through its Facebook page with the winner getting the chance to present the 'Man of the Match' award after one of the semifinals this summer.

This year, the UEFA EURO 2012™ will be held for the first time in Eastern Europe – in the exciting growth markets of Poland and the Ukraine - from June 8 to July 1, 2012.
