AIFF releases own statement on media reports

The All India Football Federation yesterday also got into the act of denying of having fed the Indian media with wrong reports on statements made by Asian Football Confederation General Secretary Alex Soosay. And even more after the AFC made it clear that it was not happy in what was happening in India and it beig dragged into the whole controversy.


An AIFF statement to the media said:

AIFF has noted with concern reports in certain sections of the media quoting various AIFF officials on the performance of the Head Coach and disharmony amongst the players in the recently concluded AFC Asian Cup 2011 held in Qatar.

Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, categorically denies making any derogatory comments about any player or the head coach.
Performance of the Indian team will be reviewed by the Technical committee and the Executive Committee of the AIFF.
He also said that he was personally present in Doha and that players' spirit and unity was very good.
He further added that there was absolutely no suggestion by the AFC on replacing the current Chief National Coach Bob Houghton. The meeting with the AFC in Doha was held to discuss ways to improve the grassroots’ development programme in India for the betterment of the game.
