AIFF XI to become Indian Arrows

From the first of February the AIFF XI (Indian Juniors) will be known as the Indian Arrows. This decision was taken by the All India Football Federation in consultation with the members of its Executive Committee.

As per a release from the federation about the name change it says:

The Indian Arrows signify swift, precise and bang on target. The name also signifies that the team believes in a single minded approach of winning when let on to the field with a target of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, 2018.

The Indian Arrows had joined the I-League set-up this season as a replacement for the now defunct Mahindra United as a developmental squad giving exposure for Indian youngsters, who normally get limited playing time at their respective clubs.

The teams base is New Delhi, are coached by experienced coach Desmond Bulpin and so far have done fine in the I-League by being tenth in the league picking up 10 points from 11 matches - 2 wins, 4 draws, 5 losses. But the team has suffered some heavy defeats against tops sides, which does show they need more exposure.
