Interview with Sangsangi Lrs (Anchor of Mizoram Premier League)

Sangsangi Lrs is the female face of the inaugural season of the Mizoram Premier League. I caught-up with her to speak about her experiences as anchor and pitch side reporter of the MPL.


Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. My father was a government servant and so is my mother. My father passed away last year and now I live with my mother and four siblings, while I am the youngest. Right now, I am studying my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and will graduate next year. I am Christian by faith.


You are the female face of the inaugural Mizoram Premier League. Surprised at the interest of the Mizo football fans in you?

Yes, this is quite surprising. I want to take this opportunity to tell the people that even though Mizoram is a small state, the people here are big at heart. I feel that I am accepted by the Mizo football fans and receive favours from unexpected corners most of the time. I am very grateful for this.


What has been your highlight of the MPL so far?

The first-ever Mizoram Premier League is overall a success till now. Football fans are enjoying it, the officials are taking steps for a better one next season and the players played their hearts out in every match.

However, there is lots of rooms for improvement in each and every part.


Before getting involved with the MPL coverage, where you at all interested in football?

I am a fan of football since childhood!

Credit goes to my family, who never misses a single match of the English Premier League and I-League. I watch English football more than any others as they can be easily seen. I wait eagerly for World Cup and Euro as well. Sometimes, i even stayed up till 4 or 5 in the morning watching football on television.


Which football club do you support?

Like I said before, I am a huge fan of football. Out of many clubs, I support Manchester United and I am a very very big fan of them.


Do you have any favourite footballer?

I like many footballers and the reason for liking them depends on many things. My favourite player changes overtime as new styles and skills are developed and seen time to time. As for now, my favourite player is Javier Hernandez from Manchester United.
