Blackburn Rovers takeover: The third Indian attempt

English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers have been in the market for a potential takeover for months and they have been linked over the summer to potential investors, interestingly both where Indian. And since yesterday the latest rumour out of England says that another Indian family run group is interested to take over the club. This time around it is the Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group, a company which is big in the poultry business and has made its money there.

A good friend with inside knowledge of these club takeover talks in the UK has said that the deal could be done as quickly as the weekend as the Venkateshwara family is willing to buy out the current owners, the Trustees of the late Jack Walker. The family would have to pay around £25 million for the club and could wipe out the £16 million debt in one go plus give manager Sam Allardyce substantial funds to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.

And whats the reason why the VH Group would want to buy Blackburn Rovers? The VH Group is working on plans to expand their operations to Europe plus strengthen their position across Asia, so they see owning a Premier League club would help them in their endeavour. If the family has any football fans or are football fans in general isn't known at this moment.

But the examples of Saurin Shah from Mumbai and Indian born Bahrain based investor Ahsan Ali Syed have shown that interest and even due diligence doesn't mean that a club would be sold. Still I find it interesting that for the third time in three/four month's Blackburn Rovers are being linked to new owners and once again the interested party is said to be Indian.

Lets see if this time Blackburn Rovers is sold to India...
