FIFA World Rankings: INDIA remain 164th

The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India remain 164th amongst the 208 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India stays 31st amongst 46 nations in the rankings.

India is 164th in the world rankings behind Madagascar and ahead of the tiny island of Aruba with 121 points, a point less then last months ranking.

Amongst the South Asian nations India are third behind Nepal (149th) and Bangladesh (152nd), but ahead of the Maldives (165th), Afghanistan (168th), Pakistan (181st), Sri Lanka (184th) and Bhutan (203rd).

Team India has not official assignments or friendlies lined-up for the next few months. The next big tournament would be the Nehru Cup in August 2012.

Meanwhile there has been some movement amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Spain (1,456 points) stay at the top with Uruguay (1,292) gaining a spot to be second ahead of Germany (1,288) who dropped a place, the Netherlands (1,234) and Brazil (1,155) who gained a place.
