India lose 1-2 against Guyana in friendly

Guyana beat India 2-1 in an international friendly at the National Stadium, Providence as part of the +ONE India Caribbean Tour. Guyana had taken the lead through Vurlon Mills, while Steven Dias equalised before the break. Guyana scored the winner after the breather through Walter Moore.

It was an open and even game between the two sides, which experienced very heavy rains during the first half but it didn't stop the teams from dishing out a good game of football.

After initial chances to both sides Guyana took a 19th minute lead when striker Vurlon Mills headed in the ball beating a surprised Indian defence. India needed time to get back into the game and scored a deserving equaliser in the 36th minute through a perfectly curled in Steven Dias free-kick. The teams went into the break with a one-all scoreline.

After the break Guyana looked the more adventurous side and they took the lead in the 63rd minute through a goal from left-back Walter Moore, who played a couple of double passes before chipping the ball over Subrata Pal in the Indian goal. Guyana were reduced to ten men when substitute Travis Henry, who had just come on, received marching orders for a rough tackle on Clifford Miranda.

India could not utilize the numerical advantage over the last few minutes as Guyana won the match 2-1 though a draw between the two sides would have been a fair result.
