Tonight India face Guyana in their second international friendly on their +ONE India Caribbean Tour. The match will be held at the National Stadium in Guyana, a venue build for the 2007 Cricket World Cup and now used as a multi-purpose stadium.
India had their final training session on Tuesday evening under lights. There the players got a first feel of the ground, which was surprisingly in good shape after heavy rains lashed Guyana over the day.
The team prepared for the match with the coaching staff working on combination and set play with coach Armando Colaco likely to use the same starting eleven as against Trinidad&Tobago.
A special focus was finishing which really let the team down in Port of Spain, then otherwise a better result would have been surely possible.
In the afternoon India had visited the office of the Guyanese Minister of Culture, Youth & Sports; Dr. Frank Anthony. There at a press meet the minister welcomed the Indian national football team once more to Guyana and hoped for better sporting relationships between India and Guyana.
Manager Mandar Tamhane on behalf of the Indian contingent thanked the Government of Guyana and the Guyana Football Federation for their invitation to play the international friendly match.
The match will be played at 19.30 local (5.00 am IST) at the National Stadium and the organisers hope for a good turn-out.
