124th Durand Cup: IAF & BSF qualify for Group Stage

The quarterfinal group stage of the 124th edition of the Durand Cup is set to kick-off later today with defending champions Prayag United SC taking on qualifiers Border Security Force in Group A, while later in the day in Group B Shillong Lajong FC take on Indian Air Force.

Indian Air Force and Border Security Force came through the qualifiers, but especially for BSF it will be tough as they only played their final qualifier yesterday, a 4-3 win against Assam Rifles after penalties. IAF had earlier beaten CRPF on Saturday to qualify.

The qualifiers were shortened after Mumbai FC and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited SC pulled out with Mumbai FC replaced by Shillong Lajong in Group B, while HAL were replaced by Mohammedan Sporting Club in Group D. Earlier another I-League side in Sporting Clube de Goa pulled out of the qualifiers, which resulted in a shortened version of the qualification process.
