The Punjab Football Association have appointed in Parminder Singh a new Honorary Secretary after incumbent Inder Singh, a former Arjuna Awardee, had resigned from the position.
Under the instructions of Samir Thapar, the president of the Punjab FA, an emergency Executive Committee meeting was held on Friday, October 14 at the Conference Hall of JCT Limited in Phagwara to discuss the position of honorary secretary.
In the absence of Samir Thapar, the meeting was chaired b S.S. Jassar, senior Vice-President of the Punjab Football Association. The position of Honorary Secretary was discussed with Inder Singh's resignation accepted, while the name of former Asian Allstar Parminder Singh was suggested and accepted by the committee. Parminder has been given a term until April 2014, when the current term of secretary would have ended.
With JCT now shut as a professional football team, the work of the secretary of the Punjab FA has gotten tougher with chances for youngsters to make it to the national level becoming more difficult from the state.
