Blackburn fire Allardyce as Venky's take charge

In a surprise move English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers fired their coach Sam Allardyce yesterday and it left neary everyone stunned as this move wasn't really expected. The 56 year old Dudley born Big Sam had coached Blackburn nearly two years, he actually missed it by four days. And now the search is on for a suitable replacement.

Venky's (Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group) from India owned by the Rao family are the new owners of English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers Football Club and it seems they are now taking fully charge at the club. According to infos last week their advisors from Kentaro sat down with the Rao's in India and the meeting did not include club chairman John Williams nor anyone else from the clubs board. And there is seems the decision to replace Sam Allardyce had been taken as the manager wanted other players then where being suggested to him.

Besides Allardyce his assistant Neil McDonald has also left the club, but first team coach Steve Kean has been installed as temporary manager until someone new takes over. The players are sad to be unhappy with the decision and there is said to be a dressing room rebellion led by captain Ryan Nelson going on.

The Rao's are saying that they are not going to rush their decision in naming a new manager, but they felt that for their ambitions with the club Allardyce wasn't the right coach. And already numerous names are being thrown around like former Ajax Amsterdam coach Martin Jol, current Leicester City coach & former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, former Rovers star Alan Shearer, just sacked Newcastle United coach Chris Hughton and the biggest name so far was Diego Maradona. But the only thing which is sure at the moment is that no Indian will become coach of the club.

And Venky's chairman Anuradha Desai has said, "Our thinking now is that it will be a British manager, but we are open if there is an outstanding candidate: someone who would be really, really good for the club."

It will be interesting to see how things continue in Blackburn with the 'Indians' in charge...
