FC Arsenal's Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is no longer happy in London and is looking at alternative options to the Gunners. The latest rumour links the tall striker with German Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.
The rumour has been confirmed by Thomas Bendtner, father and agent of the 23 year old striker, to Danish media; while certain papers in England and Germany have stated that Borussia Dortmund have made an official bid for the striker, but it is lower then the 13 Million Euros plus figure that Arsenal rate the striker is worth. Dortmund meanwhile did not wish to comment on the issue.
Bendtner has had a bad season with Arsenal where he only played in 17 Premier League games and scored two goals. He has been linked with numerous clubs within the EPL and also across Europe, but especially German clubs seem to be in the hunt for the striker. Clubs like FC Bayern Munich, Hamburger SV and VfL Wolfsburg have been named in connection with Bendtner; but Dortmund seem to be the most serious bidder so far.
BVB won the Bundesliga title for the first time in nine years and will be playing UEFA Champions League after many years, so experienced players could be useful to the young squad who lost their leader in Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid. The club has so far bought Ivan Perisic (FC Brugge, Belgium), Ilkay Gündogan (1.FC Nuremberg), Chris Löwe (Chemnitzer FC) and young Marvin Bakalorz (Borussia Dortmund II).
But the club have a striker upfront in Lucas Barrios, but the Paraguayan will play in the Copa America next month and if he stars there then other clubs could offer around 20 Million Euros for him, which might tempt Dortmund to sell and then Bendtner could be a perfect replacement.
