Is Bayern Munich eyeing EPL talent?

Bundesliga record champions FC Bayern Munich are working on an overhaul of their team ahead of the 2011/12 season. While three signings have been made so far the management and new coach Jupp Heynckes are looking at further options to strengthening the team. The big aim and dream is of reaching the final of the 2012 UEFA Champions League which will be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Now the focus of Bayern scouts seems to have shifted to the English Premier League while looking at players to bring to the club. The Bavarians interest in German international Jerome Boateng from Manchester City is well known, but the two clubs haven't been able to come to a conclusion regarding the transfer fee. Bayern Munich are saying Manchester City is demanding an inflated fee as the English club is also paying too high transfer fees while signing new players.

Now the focus seems to have spread to other English Premier League players as well. The names of Manchester United's Portuguese winger Nani and FC Chelsea's Ghanian midfield strategist Michael Essien are being mentioned as potential buys for Bayern Munich, but they aren't the kind of players that Bayern Munich is looking for. Someone Bayern is considering if they can't sign Boateng is Chelsea's Brazilian central defender Alex.

So far Bayern Munich have signed Germany international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer from FC Schalke 04, Brazilian right back Rafinha from FC Genoa 93 and young Danish striker Nils Petersen from FC Energie Cottbus.
