INDIA down to 162nd in latest FIFA World Rankings

The world football governing body released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India dropped four places to be now 162nd amongst the 208 ranked nations and territories. Within Asia India also dropped three places to be now ranked 30th amongst 46 nations in the rankings.

India is joint 162nd with Guinea-Bissau and Mongolia. All three sides have 106 points to their name with India losing six points from their previous August rankings.

The next official assignment will be SAFF Cup (South Asian Football Federation Championships) later this year at home. It will be important for the All India Football Federation to play the tournament with the senior national team to ensure that India get some points for the rankings.

Meanwhile there has been some change amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Spain move back to the top of the rankings past the Netherlands, while Germany remain third. Uruguay has moved up a place into fourth, their highest ever ranking; while Portugal gained three places to be now fifth.
