India U-16 Team announced, leaves for Qualifiers

The all India Football Federation has named a 23 player Under-16 national team for the AFC Under-16 Qualifiers in which our boys face hosts Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan in Group C.

The team leaves for Tashkent tomorrow to face tough opposition from Central Asia and a Middle Eastern side in Bahrain. The top two teams qualify for the final rounds.

The team have been practising at Conscient School at the Heritage School Ground in Gurgaon since September 14. Besides being appreciative about the practice facilities, Coach Thomas Joseph said, “We have a good team and we have practised hard for the event. Uzbekistan are the hosts and stay the strong contenders. I'd say we have a 50-50 chance.”
