Goan giants Churchill Brothers SC yesterday introduced two new foreigners to the media at the club patron Churchill Alemao's office in Varca. They are Roberto Mendes Silva and Antun Kovacic.
Brazilian midfielder Roberto Mendes Silva, better known as Beto, has joined the club from archrivals Dempo SC; while Australian defender Antun Kovacic joins them from Richmond SC in Australia. The signing of Beto and Antun Kovacic comes after the club president Joaquim Alemao had gone to Portugal last month to sign the clubs new chief coach Manuel Goncalves Gomes and top Gabonese striker Henri Antchouet.
The fourth foreigner has also been signed in striker N.D. Opara from relegated ONGC and he is set to arrive in Goa in the coming days.
Under a new coach and a complete new set of foreigners Churchill Brothers SC go into the new season. Odafe Onyeka Okolie has been their main striker for years, now others will have to fill in the massive shoes he leaves behind.
Though Henri Antchouet will be the main target man upfront the management has looked to have quality foreigners in all departments of the team, who also bring experience to the side.
