Schweinsteiger: We have to win titles!

German Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich go into the 2011/12 season with high expectations under new coach Jupp Heynckes, who returns to the Bavarians for a third stint after a turbulant last season.

26 year old Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is the clubs longest serving player and with 87 international caps to his name at his young age, Schweinsteiger has the experience and also numerous titles under his belt to know that another season like last would be unacceptable as Bayern finished third 10 points behind champions Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern Munich have been active in the transfer market by signing German international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (FC Schalke 04), Brazilian right back Rafinha (FC Genoa 93, Italy) and young striker Nils Petersen (FC Energie Cottbus) besides taking Japanese teenager Takashi Usami (Gamba Osaka, Japan) on loan. And it isn't completely over as Bayern Munich are still looking to sign a central defender and a midfielder.

"We have a new team, a new coach and want to win titles and play nice football," Schweinsteiger told the tabloid TZ.

Schweinsteiger knows his own performance wasn't up to the mark last season, but he like captain Philipp Lahm extended their contracts until 2016 as they want to be part of a new successful era at Bayern Munich and a lot will depend on his performances.

"I have been here the longest and know that I have to lead the team," Schweinsteiger added.
