The Delhi Soccer Association have named forward Mahender Kumar as the captain of the Delhi state senior team for the ongoing Santosh Trophy. His deputy as vice-Captain would be Monu Choudhary while Anadi Barua and Ravi Rana have been appointed as the state coaches.
The DSA held open selection trials from April 20 onwards at the Ambedkar Stadium and then decided on the final 20 players. With no club from Delhi in the final round of the 2nd Division I-League the state is able to call on some experienced players.
The 65th edition of the Santosh Trophy will be held from May 6 to 30 across Assam in the seven cities of Guwahati, Nagaon, Mangaldoi, Tinsukia, Shivsagar, Kokrajhar and Bongalgaon. In this years edition Delhi have been placed in Cluster 6 along with Nagaland, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh in the preliminary stage.
