SAIL Football Academy trials

The SAIL Football Academy in Bokaro, Jharkhand will be having selection trials for boys born on or after 01.01.1997 to induct them into their junior team. The boys would be with the Academy for three years and could be recommended further within the SAIL system and play for the SAIL team in the Calcutta Football League. The SAIL Football Academy was set-up by the Steel Authority of India Limited in 1998.

The applications have to come via the secretaries of the state football associations and SAIL units across the country. The players should have played in the Sub-Junior Nationals, Subroto Cup school football tournament, Junior leagues and other recognized tournaments organized by the AIFF, state football associations, Sports Authority of India, etc. Exceptionally talented candidates are also considered for induction to the Academy.


The SAIL Football Academy at Bokaro provides the following free facilities to the candidates

- Sports gear at regular intervals
- Medical facilities at BGH
- School Uniform / Books and Stationary
- Academy Uniform (Sleeping suit, Hostel Dress and Ceremonial Dress)
- Stipend to the cadets @ Rs.500 (1st yr.) Rs.600 (2nd Yr.) Rs.700 (3rd Yr.) in every month
- Group Insurance coverage of the cadets is also done every year during their stay in the Academy

The training at SAIL Football Academy is monitored by full time expert coaches regularly and emphasis is given to the following aspects:

1. Practical Training: Daily Morning and Evening
2. Theoretical Training: Twice a week
3. Sports Psychological Training: Twice a week
4. Audio and Video visual presentation: Twice a week
5. Academical studies at BSL School: Regular


Placement of Cadets

Every year, the Junior Academy cadets are short listed for participating in Subroto Football Championship and IFA 1st division Football league under the banner of Senior SAIL Football Academy. In the span of last twelve years, many of the cadets are now placed in top football clubs across the country. Many of them represented India in junior national teams as well as many of them join the Indian Railways and other organizations.


Minimum Battery Test Performance

The SAIL Football Academy Cadets gets its sports medicine back up from the Doctors of SAIL Football Academy. The battery test records monitored by the Doctor at every three months to evaluate the performance chart.


Final Induction Trials

SAIL Football Academy Induction trials will be held from May 18 to 20 at the MKM Stadium, Sector IV, Bokaro Steel City in Bokaro (Jharkhand). In the final selection skill test, battery test and medical test will be taken before induction of the players in which two month probation period will be given to each and every cadet before final induction. Proof of age is required to be produced before trials.

The boys should be born on or after 01.01.1997; have a minimum height of 5´7´´ and 26 to 28 teeth.

The best selected shall report at Block No-1 Training Hostel, Sector IIIB, Bokaro Steel City, Bokaro (Jharkhand) on May 17 with one escorting manager. SAIL shall provide free hospitality and sleeper class train fare up and down.
