QPR retain Championship title, no points penalty

English Championship side Queens Park Rangers FC are now confirmed champions of the second tier of English football after the English FA constituted panel found the club guilty on two charges out of seven charges, but did not dock any points from the southwest London club in the 2009 signing of Argentinian Alejandro Damián Faurlín and subsequent third party ownership, which is illegal after the Carlos Tevez and West Ham United affair a few seasons ago.

This means that QPR can now plan for their return to the English Premier League, exactly 16 years after they had left the top tier. The news came out just ahead of QPR's final league game against Leeds United, which led to jubilant scenes at Loftus Road.

The hearing into the signing of Faurlín started on Tuesday with a verdict expected supposedly to be out by yesterday afternoon, but the verdict was delayed because of the weight of evidence. The panel consisted of an independent QC, two members of the FA's disciplinary panel and a football expert.

QPR had been dominant in the English Championship throughout the season and they get a deserving promotion back into the Premiership. And with this we now have a second club with Indian owners in the EPL as QPR have the Mittal family as co-owners.

Congratulations to QPR on their promotion!!!
