Stekelenburg drops Dutch Eredivisie trophy

It seems to become fashion these days to drop trophies from buses during open top celebrations. After Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos a few weeks ago it was this time around the much sought after Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, who dropped the Dutch Eredivisie trophy during the club's parade through the streets of Amsterdam while celebrating the Dutch title which the club won on the last match day against Twente Enschede. But luckily this time around the trophy didn't end under the bus, but rolled past it....

VIDEO: Sergio Ramos damages Copa del Rey

Real Madrid last night won the Spanish Kings Cup (Copa del Rey) against archrivals FC Barcelona 1-0 in extra-time through a Cristiano Ronaldo goal. Their first Copa del Rey in 18 years.

And close to 50,000 Real fans turned up at 04.00 CET at the Plaza de Cibeles (the Cibeles fountain) to greet the team. And on an open doubledecker bus the accident. Spanish defender Sergio Ramos is showing off the cup to the fans, but suddenly he drops it and it falls under the wheel of the bus where it gets crushed.

The Copa del Rey, which weighs 15 kgs, is said to have been broken into 10 pieces or maybe even more. It is can be put together or has to be replaced by a new cup will have to be seen.
