FICCI GOAL 2013: Talking needs to be turned into action

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry organised the first-ever FICCI GOAL 2013 - India Football, an International Convention on Football Business over the last couple of days at Federation House on Tansen Marg in New Delhi.

I have to say we had two good days of interaction within the Indian football fraternity, but if any positives come out of it would have to be seen then talks and discussion need to be turned into action, then throughout the convention the problems of implementation and a clear cut vision was evident in Indian football.

All the session were very good, then overall a lot of information and knowledge was passed on by the speakers and surely there were some controversial statements as well as those from AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan or Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA's India Development Officer; who both only said the truth but often that is not something wanted in India.

The thing which I come back to is the fact that there are loads of good ideas on how to take Indian football forward, but there seems to be a funding issue or problems in implementation, which Rob Baan highlighted when he spoke about this roadmap for Indian football - Lakshya.

Those need to be solved otherwise Indian football cannot move forward and we will continue to talk about these issues, but change does not happen which is needed or Indian football will never realise its potential.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will organise its first-ever FICCI GOAL 2013 - India Football, which will be an International Convention on Football Business later this week on February 14/15 at Federation House on Tansen Marg in New Delhi.

I have been asked to moderate another session, the fourth panel which will be happening on Friday morning titled 'Joining the dots of AIFF Lakshya 2022 & IMG-RIL 2026 Vision'. And I really look forward to it as we will discuss the roadmap of football development in India.

The brief about the session says, "Two of the most critical stakeholders in the development of football in India are AIFF and IMG RIL. Both organizations have created master plans, entitled Lakshya 2022 and Vision 2026 respectively, which map out the future of the sport in the country. Representatives from both groups will be sharing their plans with convention delegates."

The participants of the panel will be AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan and Priti Srivastava from Reliance Industries representing IMG-Reliance.

FICCI GOAL 2013: Me moderating session on Reconceptualizing of Indian League system: Club vs City Franchisee!

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will organise its first-ever FICCI GOAL 2013 - India Football, which will be an International Convention on Football Business on February 14/15 at Federation House on Tansen Marg in New Delhi.

I have been asked to moderate the second panel session titled 'Reconceptualizing of Indian League system: Club vs City Franchisee'. And I really look forward to it as it is a decisive question about where our league football could be heading in the years to come.

The brief about the session says, "After the success of IPL in cricket, it has been proven that Indians like city based league system but what is going to be the future of historic Football Clubs in India. What kind of league model should Indian football follow - MLS/IPL model or Club/EPL model? This session will discuss taking football to the masses."

Confirmed participants of the session are Sunando Dhar (CEO, I-League), Atul Pande (CEO, Ten Sports), Nandan Piramal (Chairman of Pune FC), Shirish Kulkari, (Chairman of DSK Shivajians) and Yajurvindra Singh Bilkha (Head Corporate Events and Sports, Tata Consultancy Services).
